Injury Update

Erik ten Hag has provided Diogo Dalot and Anthony Martial injury updates

As revealed by Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, Diogo Dalot will not play in Saturday’s Premier League match against Manchester City. Meanwhile, Anthony Martial will also receive a late check on his fitness.

Dalot appeared to be holding his hamstring before leaving the field during the first half of Tuesday night’s 3-0 victory over Charlton Athletic.

The 23-year-old is still recovering from the thigh injury he sustained during the 2022 World Cup; therefore, he won’t be playing in the Manchester derby. Therefore, it is expected that right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has started the team’s previous three Premier League games, would once again be chosen to the starting XI.

Additionally, Martial, who was absent against Charlton, has drawn considerable attention.
The French striker was substituted during the second half of the 3-1 FA Cup victory over Everton last Friday, and he is questionable for the match against Manchester City.

Although Ten Hag stated that Martial was able to workout on Friday morning, a decision about the striker’s participation in the Manchester Derby will not be made until Saturday.

As stated by The Manchester Evening News, the Dutch boss said:

“Diogo Dalot is not available and Anthony Martial trained this morning, so we have to wait how he recovered from his training and that will be decided tomorrow. It is a small thing in his leg so it will be better tomorrow or he will be available for Wednesday”

Martial has already missed 13 weeks of action this season owing due to numerous injuries he has suffered at the club. His participation will be key for the Red Devils as he scored two goals during our previous outing against the Citizens.

Ten Hag also provided an update on Donny van de Beek’s injury, which is a concerning one for the fans. The former Ajax midfielder has been ruled out for the remainder of the season. Meanwhile, new loan signing Wout Weghorst will be unable to make his debut against Manchester City.
