After Manchester United’s victory against Wolves, Erik ten Hag declined to comment on Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer to Saudi Arabia.
On Friday, Ronaldo completed his transfer to Saudi Arabia-based club Al Nassr and signed a deal with the club that will last through the year 2025.
His massive contract, said to be worth £200 million annually, comes a month after he had his United contract mutually terminated due to a controversial interview with Piers Morgan.
Marcus Rashford scored for the third straight game since the World Cup to defeat Wolves 1-0, proving that United have not yet missed Ronaldo’s contributions. Ten Hag was eager to get rid of Ronaldo after the player said he felt “betrayed” by the team, and he is now eager to put the controversy behind him.
As reported by The Mirror, the Dutch boss was asked about Ronaldo’s move to Al Nassr, and he replied by saying:
“I don’t talk about the past, let’s talk about the future. We made a good step today. First time we are in the top four, but it means nothing because it is a long way to go. We have to live from game to game, get in the position to win something.”
With their third straight victory in the competition, United climbed to fourth place in the Premier League. On January 3, they will host Bournemouth with the aim of continuing that streak.
United is looking for a striker in the January transfer window, even though they have successfully moved on from Ronaldo. Ten Hag has stated his desire to bolster his team despite the limited options after missing out on Cody Gakpo.
