Erik ten Hag plans to raise £100 million by offloading unwanted players

According to the Mirror, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag plans to offload 11 players in order to generate more than £100 million in transfer fees for squad rebuilding.

While aiming to make significant additions to the team, Ten Hag recognizes the need to trim the squad to accommodate new signings.

Defenders Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones, have already departed the club as their contract has expired. Additionally, goalkeeper David de Gea is expected to leave United as he has declined the club’s contract offer and is set to become a free agent.

Dean Henderson is likely to leave Man United this summer, with Nottingham Forest interested in securing his permanent transfer following a loan spell. The Red Devils could potentially earn around £25 million from the transfer.

Ten Hag consider selling defenders Alex Telles and Eric Bailly this summer. Telles is returning from a loan at Sevilla, while Bailly spent the previous season at Marseille.

United hopes to secure modest transfer fees for both players. Left-back Brandon Williams is another player for whom United is open to offers, as he had limited playing time last season and fell down the pecking order after the arrival of Tyrell Malacia.

The club is willing to entertain offers of £10 million for academy graduate Anthony Elanga had limited playing time last season and is not considered part of the long-term plans by the Dutch boss.

Similarly, Hannibal Mejbri, another youth graduate, will be available for a similar price following his loan spell at Birmingham. Notably, United are open to offers for club captain Harry Maguire, midfielder Donny van de Beek, and Anthony Martial.

Despite their high transfer fees and wages, these players are not included in the first-team plans. Ten Hag’s team is actively seeking to strengthen their midfield this summer.

United will consider bids of £20 million for midfielder Fred, who has been linked with a move to Fulham. Fred has been with the club for the past five seasons, making 213 first-team appearances and scoring 14 goals.

In total, United aims to raise over £100 million in transfer fees for the 11 players and reduce wage expenses to facilitate a squad restructuring. The club is targeting a new goalkeeper, two strikers, a midfielder, and a centre-back.
