Injury Update

Erik ten Hag provides double injury boost ahead of Liverpool game

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has provided a double injury boost ahead of the crunch Premier League clash against Liverpool on Sunday. Luke Shaw and Jadon Sancho could return for United after a short spell on the sidelines.

Both players missed Wednesday’s comeback victory over West Ham, which helped United move into the FA Cup quarterfinals. Ten Hag’s team will now travel to Anfield this Saturday for the second North-West Derby of the season.

The Dutchman will need to make use of his squad in the remaining months of the season because his team is still playing in every cup competition available to them. In light of this, he will be glad to have both Sancho and Shaw available to play against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

This season, Shaw has been one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, and Sancho just got back from a long injury layoff and is making a big difference for the team.

And Ten Hag has now stated that he anticipates both players playing against Liverpool. As reported by the Mirror, he said:

“I think we will have players back. Yesterday [against West Ham] Luke Shaw was not available, so we expect him back. Sancho was ill, but we will have to wait and see how that develops I think he could be [available] as well.”

However, United would be unable to welcome any more players this week. Donny van de Beek and Christian Eriksen are still out permanently, and Anthony Martial is still having hip problems.

Ten Hag’s side will be confident that they can beat a revived Liverpool team and close the gap on league leaders Arsenal.

Although the Gunners have an 11-point lead at the top of the table, the Red Devils could close the gap to eight if they secure a win on Sunday.
