Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, has revealed the club’s intention to find a suitable striker during the ongoing transfer window.
The team performed exceptionally well in their pre-season matches, maintaining a flawless record until they encountered a 2-0 loss to Real Madrid in a match held in the United States today.
Following the friendly match, Ten Hag acknowledged that the result further emphasizes United’s need for a new centre-forward.
Although he refrained from specifying any particular players, the Dutch manager revealed that the club is actively engaged in the process of securing the right player to join the team.
As stated by the club’s official website, he said:
“Absolutely [the game shows why we are in the market for a new forward]. It’s always difficult to say. We are working 24-7. We do and everyone, well not everyone, but a lot in the club, and we give all the power to get this done.”
“We never talk about players under contract with another club, so we have our targets in the background. We are busy with it to get the right player to sign a contract for us.”
Ten Hag has shown a clear interest in signing Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta, and it was confirmed that a verbal offer has been made.

The proposal put forward by the Red Devils consists of an initial payment of €50 million with an additional €10 million in potential add-ons.
However, Atalanta values the player at least €70 million, creating a discrepancy in their respective valuations. Despite this difference, there is optimism that an agreement between the clubs can be reached soon.
Hojlund has already reached a personal agreement on a long-term contract with United, indicating his readiness to reject a substantial contract offer from Paris Saint-Germain in favour of joining the English club.

The young player is actively making efforts to facilitate his transfer, and now the responsibility lies with United to present an enhanced offer.
Atalanta have recently reached a preliminary agreement to acquire El Bilal Traore from Almeria, indicating that they may be preparing for Hojlund’s departure.
This suggests that the Italian club is anticipating the potential exit of Hojlund from their squad.
