Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has talked about his private dinner with Sir Alex Ferguson before their Europa League matchup against Barcelona on Thursday.
The Red Devils and Catalan giants drew 2-2 in the first leg of the Europa League play-off match, and they will be going for victory tomorrow at Old Trafford.
Reporters asked the former Ajax manager during his pre-game press conference on a variety of topics, including his recent private meal with former legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson in Cheshire.
The Dutch strategist responded saying it was a terrific night talking with Sir Alex and that having the support of the iconic club manager is huge.
As reported by the club’s official website, the gaffer said:
“It is massive (to have his support). I enjoy speaking with people with massive knowledge and experience it. He wants to share it, he wants to help and support. Manchester United is his club and he feels so committed. He wants us to be doing well. It was a great night.”
United should have won the match against Barcelona at Camp Nou with chances generated in either half of the first leg.
They should feel confident going into the second leg after their performance. The players will be inspired to win with the backing of Sir Alex and the Old Trafford crowd.
United has been in terrific shape, especially at home. They should be favourites tomorrow because they have won 14 of their last 15 games across all competitions.
They defeated Leicester City 3-0 on Sunday, although they got off to a sluggish start and may have given up again but for David de Gea’s heroics. He would be a crucial figure against the Spanish giants in a must-win encounter.
