It almost seems like forever that the likes of Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland have been linked to bigger clubs in Europe. Manchester United has been right in the mix with all these speculations cropping up at the start of every transfer window.
“Manchester United have achieved great success in recent years. The club is also trying to build something new there. But to draw comparison now is not so easy because he [Erling] is already playing in Dortmund.” Haaland told German outlet Sport1
One is almost tired of hearing these speculations again and again but we know that Manchester United are looking for a proper overhaul and their main targets are young prospects who are much more suited for the long term vision of the club.
Amad Diallo was the most recent signing so it doesn’t look like they would be too interested in signing another forward especially one who comes with such a huge price tag as that of Erling Haaland.
Even though Odion Ighalo will be going back to his parent club at Shanghai Shenhua and Edinson Cavani not getting any younger at 34 it could only be time before Manchester United go hunting in the market for an out and out striker.
Right now Manchester United would want to build a more defensively solid base with a proper defensive midfielder and centre-back who can help bring some composure to that backline.
Manchester United seems to have gotten above these defensive perils but few inconsistent moments and injury perils have cost them dearly in the past whether it is the Champions league or domestic competitions.
