Everton 1-3 Manchester United Match Report | EPL 2020-21

Manchester United get back to winning ways at the Goodison Park, against Everton with a five-star performance from talisman Bruno Fernandes. The Red Devils played well against a good Everton side, as Solskjaer passed his Ancelotti test with flying colours. The Red Devils scored three goals past Pickford, with Bruno Fernandes scoring a brace and Edinson Cavani scoring his first goal for the Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer used his tried and tested system, with his tried and tested personnel. The inclusion of Juan Mata and McTominay raised eyebrows, but with United’s performance, the critics will be shut for a while at least. The game started with United dictating the play but then Everton also played their game with either side failing to produce clear-cut chances.

But using the longer route, Everton broke the deadlock, with Bernard scoring their first goal after Calvert-Lewin won the first ball against Lindelof. Manchester United replied with great effectiveness, as Bruno Fernandes scored with a header from Luke Shaw’s cross. From then on, the Red Devils were in complete control throughout the first half, dominating possession and creating chances.

Bruno Fernandes scored again in the 35th minute, in what was meant to be a cross for Rashford, who missed it. With Fred and McTominay in the double pivot, Manchester United dominated the midfield and kept the ball well till the end of the first half. But as soon as the second half started, Everton were on the front foot, dominating play.

But Everton failed to produce any real chance for scoring again, whereas United kept producing such moments. Rashford and Martial missed a few half chances which could have put the game to bed. Later in the game, Pogba came on for Mata, Tuanzebe came on for Luke Shaw and Cavani came on for Martial, with all the substitutes performing well.

Luke Shaw came off with a hamstring injury and luckily for United, Alex Telles has come back into training. In the dying moments of the game, Edinson Cavani scored his first goal for United in a counter-attack, wrapping up the game, with Bruno’s assist. Manchester United have come back strong after a couple of poor performances and go strong into the international break.
