Everton eye United winger Anthony Elanga as Anthony Gordon replacement

According to the Athletic, Manchester United star Anthony Elanga is one of two players that have been targeted by Everton to replace Anthony Gordon.

The 21-year-old attacker left Goodison Park to sign with Newcastle for £45 million. It makes Everton’s attacking unit even more weak as they attempt to escape the relegation zone under new boss Sean Dyche. The Toffees are looking for a new signing before Tuesday’s deadline, and The Athletic reports that they have their eye on two players.

Elanga is one of them and will join the Merseyside team on loan through the rest of the season. The 20-year-old has played just seven games under Erik Ten Hag this season.

He might perhaps leave Old Trafford in search of regular minutes on the pitch. The Red Devils’ icon Ruud van Nistelrooy also wants to sign the Swedish international at PSV Eindhoven.

Since there isn’t much time left in the window and United lacks many attacking options, the team is unlikely to let Elanga leave.

Rennes star Kamaldeen Sulemana is another potential target for Everton. However, the Ligue 1 club has yet to respond to the verbal offer made by the Toffees for the Ghanaian attacker.

However, Southampton and Bournemouth are both interested in Sulemana, so Everton has to deal with intense competition.
