According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United has made it clear that they will be signing “at least” one midfielder this summer, regardless of the outcome of Marcel Sabitzer’s loan spell.
While the club’s priority is to bring in an elite-level striker, there are concerns about the limitations of their current strikeforce, with Marcus Rashford being the standout performer with 29 goals this season, while other players have struggled to find the back of the net consistently.
Speculation has been swirling that United will target a new central midfielder once they address their striker situation. The likes of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and Fred are all above 30, making a midfield addition a wise move.
While there is interest in Marcel Sabitzer, who is currently on loan from Bayern Munich, United is actively seeking another midfielder regardless of whether they secure Sabitzer’s permanent signing.
According to Romano, a midfielder signing has now become crucial for United, with a centre-forward remaining the top priority.
Players such as Jude Bellingham and Frenkie de Jong have been linked with the club, but Bellingham appears destined for Real Madrid and De Jong is unwilling to leave Barcelona.
