Fabrizio Romano Confirms Xavi Simons’ Future

Xavi Simons’ transfer situation is reaching its conclusion, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, who stated that the Dutch midfielder will depart PSG permanently next year, regardless of his destination for a loan this summer.

Simons, who initially hoped to finalize his future before Euro 2024, delayed his decision until after the tournament.

However, it has long been clear that he would once again depart PSG on loan.

Last year, the French club exercised their buy-back option to re-sign him from PSV for just €4 million and subsequently loaned him to RB Leipzig, where he thrived in the Bundesliga.

Simons’ impressive performances at Leipzig have attracted attention from top European clubs, including Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and his former youth club Barcelona.

More recently, Manchester United has been reported as a potential destination, while Leipzig is eager to retain him for another season.

According to Romano, only two clubs remain serious contenders for Simons’ loan: Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig.

Romano emphasized that the decision on Simons’ future is imminent, with the player focusing on making a choice in the upcoming days.

On his YouTube channel, Romano mentioned, “Xavi will concentrate on deciding his next steps, and the next week could be crucial.

Bayern and Leipzig are currently at the forefront, having been actively pursuing him for several months.”

Regarding Simons’ immediate plans, Romano clarified, “Simons has already made the decision to leave PSG on loan. It is highly likely that he will depart PSG permanently next summer, in 2025.

The chapter between PSG and Simons is effectively closed, with a 99 percent certainty.

” Now, it’s time for a loan, and next summer will probably be time for a permanent transfer.”

Regarding Manchester United’s interest, Romano explained,

“Man Utd have asked about Simons’ situation, but they only did so after confirming Erik ten Hag as their manager. This is why they’re not leading the race; they started the conversation late in presenting their project.”

Xavi Simons is set to pick what’s next for him soon.

He’s likely to go on loan first, then move away from PSG for good next summer.

Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are in the lead to get him, while Manchester United, who joined the chase late, are a bit behind.
