Renowned transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has provided a lengthy update on the club’s ongoing activities for incomings and outgoings in the January transfer window.
Interim manager Ralf Rangnick’s first transfer window at the club is coming to a close, and many are expecting some movement.
Fabrizio Romano said:
“It is not going to be easy for Man United to sign Erling Haaland. What happened with Paul Pogba affected the situation between Mino Raiola and United. Many clubs are interested but nothing is advanced at the moment and nothing will be decided right now.
“United is focusing on a defensive midfielder in the January window and is considering options. They are interested in Boubacar Kamara but nothing advanced at the moment. At the moment, there is absolutely nothing between Man United and Sergej Milinković-Savić.”
“They had sent a scout to Argentina to watch Julián Álvarez but there are currently no negotiations. If Anthony Martial leaves in January it is unlikely United will let Edinson Cavani leave also.”
“Amadou Haidara is appreciated by Ralf Rangnick but there are currently no negotiations. Newcastle has contacted Jesse Lingard but he is not interested in a move in January and wants to fight for his place at the club.”
Although Romano claims that Haaland’s arrival at United will be tough due to Raiola’s history with the club, it’s possible that if a deal benefits all three parties, previous faults will be forgotten.
The Red Devils’ fan base would want to see a defensive midfielder join them this winter, and it appears like Kamara or Haidara are the leading candidates. Milinkovic-Savic rumors have been around for a long time, but such deals have never materialized.
Alvarez is a hot property right now, so it’s no surprise to see Manchester United take a look, especially with the Martial and Cavani speculations going around.
