Feyenoord star Justin Bijlow still attracting interest from Manchester United

According to Dutch outlet 1908.nl, Manchester United’s are still interested in signing Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow, even after the addition of Andre Onana from Inter Milan.

The Red Devils were previously linked to the Netherlands international during the current transfer window, with speculations indicating that he could be considered as an alternative option if they are unable to meet the financial demands for Onana.

United successfully secured the signing of Onana for €55 million. However, the club is still actively scouting Feyenoord goalkeeper Bijlow.

Earlier in the summer, United had expressed “explicit interest” in Bijlow, but as of now, he has not agreed to a new contract extending beyond June 2025.

Feyenoord have recently made a fresh contract offer to the player, indicating their desire to retain him. Despite this, United’s interest in Bijlow remains ongoing, suggesting that they are keeping a close eye on his situation.

The 25-year-old Dutch goalkeeper has shown significant improvement in his game in recent years. In the last season, he played a crucial role in Feyenoord’s triumph, helping them secure their 16th Eredivisie title.

Bijlow demonstrated an impressive save accuracy of 76 per cent, showcasing his shot-stopping abilities. Moreover, he displayed excellent passing skills, completing 78 per cent of his passes, with 14 per cent originating from outside the box.

His ability to come off his line and make crucial challenges was also noteworthy. He won eight tackles, four of which were executed outside the penalty area, highlighting his versatility and confidence in playing beyond the goal.

United views Bijlow as an excellent backup option for Onana. However, the crucial question remains whether Bijlow would be willing to accept a supporting role at the club, considering his potential and capabilities.

The Feyenoord goalkeeper recently made two appearances for the Netherlands during the Nations League finals. However, his spot in the national team could be in jeopardy if he doesn’t secure regular first-team football.

United’s interest in his services may be uncertain due to their limited budget and other pressing priorities in the current transfer window.

With their focus primarily on securing Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund and potentially Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, it remains doubtful whether they would be willing to invest €20 million in Bijlow.

Additionally, United may also look to sign a new centre-back if there’s a possibility of Harry Maguire leaving the club. Considering these factors, the likelihood of Bijlow joining United as a backup option seems uncertain at the moment.
