Serie A side Fiorentina’s owner has admitted that their star player Federico Chiesa could leave the club amidst growing rumours linking the player with a move to Manchester United FC.
The Red Devils have been linked with a lot of wingers in recent weeks, with the club’s management having decided to acquire additions for the attacking department of the Premier League side. Ole Gunnar Solskjær was persistent on signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. However, the negotiations between the two sides have stalled due to the £120 million asking price for the England international.
Chiesa has had a stellar career so far while playing for Fiorentina, having scored 29 times in 138 games for the Italian side. In 22 appearances this season, the winger has seven goals and five assists to his name before the suspension of the Serie A league due to the ongoing pandemic crisis.
Chiesa is widely known for his brilliant speed as well as dribbling ability and has caught the eye of many top European clubs such as Chelsea FC and Juventus who have declared interest in signing the player.
Rocco Commisso, the Italian club’s owner, has reportedly stated in a recent press conference that the club would not stand in Chiesa’s way and would allow him to depart if the correct valuation for him is met by the sides pursuing his transfer.
Chiesa would be a much cheaper option for Manchester United FC as compared to Jadon Sancho, with the Italian winger believed to be valued at €60 million (£53m) by Fiorentina. The player has already been capped 17 times for his national team Italy and is tipped to be a major part of the upcoming future of Italian football.
Ole Gunnar Solskjær has been reported to be interested in signing the 22-year old Chiesa for a long time now.
The Red Devils manager even sent his trusted aide Simon Wells to watch Chiesa in action in Fiorentina’s 1-1 draw with AC Milan earlier this season in the Serie A. Despite being a natural right-winger, Chiesa can also operate as a centre forward and would be a wonderful signing for Manchester United FC who are on the hunt for a right-winger to add to their ranks.
