Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira may be on his way out of the club permanently, as Flamengo has expressed an interest in him.
The talented midfielder has spent the entire season on loan in Brazil, and there has been speculation over whether he would ever return to England.
Flamengo vice-president Marcos Braz said as per Sports Witness:
“It is already known that Flamengo will try, at the right time, at the right time, to sign the player permanently. We have to proceed slowly, carefully, so that it’s the best for Flamengo.”
The loan contained a €20 million purchase option, but Flamengo does not want to spend that much and is hoping to negotiate a price of less than €10 million. In the post-Ole Gunnar Solskjaer era, the academy graduate is among a group of United players who appear to have lost their identity at the club.
Ralf Rangnick has openly claimed that the renowned Norwegian had a bloated squad, which he wants to downsize. Given how Pereira was loaned out during Solskjaer’s tenure, the German manager is unlikely to be interested in bringing him back.
Rangnick is much more likely to transfer the Brazilian in order to boost any potential transfer budget. Despite the evident necessity for a sale, it’s unclear whether the Red Devils will take anything less than €10 million.
Manchester United is rumored to be looking for a new midfielder, but even if Pereira was good enough for the club, he is unlikely to return. After all, he’s spent a lot of time on the bench in the past and will be looking for regular playing time with a team that believes in him.
