Four United players nominated for fans’ footballer of the year award

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, four Manchester United players have been nominated for the fans’ footballer of the year award. The list includes all the Premier League’s top players who have been performing impressive performances for their respective clubs.

Diogo Dalot, David de Gea, Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen are the candidates nominated for the award. Dalot’s resurgence under Erik ten Hag has been inspiring and it seems that the right-back will be having his best season under the Dutch manager.

The 23-year-old has played in every Premier League game this season except the match against Fulham where he was suspended. Similarly, David de Gea has been a crucial player in front of the goal and has continued to perform well in key matches.

After a disastrous start to the season, the Spanish goalkeeper has been able to get himself back on track. The goalkeeper has kept five clean sheets in the league this season. Lisandro Martinez has been an instant hit for the Red Devils since signing for the club this summer with his fierce man-marking skills and quick passing attracting huge praise.

Ten Hag’s decision of handing him a regular start in the league has helped the team secure the back line. The left-footed centre-back has paired well with Raphael Varane at the core of the defence.

Christian Eriksen has been the chief anchor of United’s midfield department. The Danish playmaker rejected the Red Devils three times before finally moving to Old Trafford for free this summer. Eriksen’s strong passing skills and ability to command the team have been the prime reason behind the club’s success in recent months.
