Manchester United still are in the first position of the Premier League table and are ready to stay there for a long time. The Red Devils travel to Craven Cottage in a couple of days’ time as they will look to extend their lead at the top of the table. Ole Gunnar has proven his critics wrong after United went to Anfield and got a point and could have easily won the game, had they taken their chances.
The Red Devils are in red hot form away from home and will be looking to make their streak even better. But we might see a lot of changes in the Manchester United side as they face Liverpool next in the FA Cup. The likes of Van de Beek and Bailly will be expected to start the game against Fulham in the Premier League.
Let us now have a look at how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might set his Manchester United side up against struggling Fulham.
THE 4-3-3
The 4-3-3 is a very likely formation and system Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might put out against newcomers Fulham who have been struggling in the Premier League. This Manchester United side might look a little weakened from the general side that Solskjaer fields week in and week out. But it will be expected of the Red Devils to get the job done with domination on the ball.
With Matic covering the midfield space, Van de Beek and McTominay might be the ones accompanying him. Donny Van de Beek will be under the spotlight again as he continues to be benched for most of the games. Alex Telles is also very likely to start the game for the Red Devils after Luke Shaw excelled against Liverpool a couple of days ago.
Mason Greenwood will also surely start the game against Fulham as hasn’t got enough minutes under his belt in the recent past.
THE 4-2-3-1
The 4-2-3-1 is another balanced system that Solskjaer has used at Manchester United whenever he has to get a result. Against Fulham,it might be used to unleash the front four of the Red Devils, where they will be able to express themselves. Rashford will be the creator in chief for Manchester United as he hasn’t looked as threatening as he was a month ago.
Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly will be expected to play at the heart of the United defence against Fulham. The pair has been brilliant defensively and has also allowed the Red Devils to play higher up the pitch. Both the defenders complement each other’s qualities and have done well in the last month or so in all competitions.
THE 3-5-2
The 3-5-2 is the ultimate option for Manchester United as they have tried this ultra-defensive system. But against Fulham, it seems almost an impossibility for them to play with this system as the Londoners barely have quality attacking display. Manchester United should win this game handsomely and keep the first place in the Premier League table.
