According to the Manchester Evening News, Galatasaray is preparing a transfer for Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof.
As per the report, the Lions are interested in the United center-back who has lost his spot in the starting XI since the arrival of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Vararne’s return from injury.
Although Lindelof has 52 caps for Sweden and two more years left on his contract, he hasn’t played in the Premier League yet this year. The centre-back has only participated in one entire game of 90 minutes, which was a 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad in the Europa League.
Sevilla would compete with Galatasaray for the Swedish international if Vitor Nelsson is ever sold in the January transfer market. The 28-year-old defender is currently wanted by Istanbul’s big clubs on a loan.
Galatasaray added players like Mauro Icardi and Juan Mata to the roster during the summer transfer window and would be aiming to bolster their defence next summer.
United are in a better position at this moment as they have five centre-backs at their disposal. With Harry Maguire, Axel Tuanzebe and Victor Lindelof, the club does possess depth but a lack of quality would drop in more questions.
Maguire’s poor form is a sign of concern and Tuanzebe could be sent on loan. Lindelof will still be getting backing from the manager to start a few games ahead of a busy league schedule.
However, the club will also be on the lookout for a new centre-back next summer which would make things complicated for Lindelof. Napoli’s Kim Min-Jae is linked with a move to Old Trafford and if a move does materialize, then Galatasaray could get their hands on the Swedish star.
