Manchester United old boy Gary Neville reckons his former side would not enter the transfer market for Aston Villa star man Jack Grealish should he want to leave the London-based outfit in the near future.
Grealish once again displayed his indispensability towards Dean Smith’s Villa side during the 2-1 victory for Manchester United, with the England international setting up Bertrand Traore for Friday’s visitors’ equaliser, following which Bruno Fernandes converted a spot-kick to secure the year’s first win for the Red Devils.
The Aston Villa skipper had been subject to lavish praise from United gaffer Ole Gunnar Solskajer in the buildup to the game, fueling speculation that Solskjaer might ponder over a move for Grealish next summer, however, Neville believes that the Old Trafford giants have enough options in their first-team ranks to consider making an approach for the 25-year-old.
“I think it’s very unlikely Manchester United would move for Jack Grealish, as good as he is,” Neville told Sky Sports, as quoted by Manchester Evening News.
“When you think of Van de Beek, Pogba, Fernandes, the type of players they have. There are no doubts, there were accusations about style over substance but now he’s delivering on a consistent basis. He’s a brilliant player for Aston Villa.”
Recent speculation had suggested that Manchester United might prioritise making a move for Grealish in the aftermath of the Red Devils’ failed long-term approach for Borussia Dortmund star and Grealish’s compatriot Jadon Sancho.
Sancho’s potential landing at Old Trafford last summer had fallen through due to pricing concerns surrounding the former Manchester City man signing for Solskajer’s side.
