Daniel James was a rather lesser-known figure in the football circuit when Manchester United signed the youngster last summer from Swansea. The Welshman was fantastic in the early parts of the Premier League as he scored in his league debut and also scored in consecutive games. But James’ form has faded away since then and he was lately used as an unused substitute for United.
The 22-year old is one of the quickest players in the United squad and the entire Premier League, coming from the Championship. His breakout season, last year, saw him play 46 games in which he scored four goals and provided seven assists for the Red Devils. Earlier this week, James played very well for Wales in the Nations League, which impressed manager Ryan Giggs.
In his recent talk with WalesOnline, Giggs praised James as he said: “He (James) was excellent, especially in the first game. It was a lot to ask for some of the players who hadn’t played for a long time to play two lots of 90 minutes.
He also added “He’ll look to start the season well and give Ole the problem of picking him. But with teams like United who are in Europe, you’ll always have a lot of games, so you’ll get plenty of game time, and when you do get the chance you have to take it.”
Dan James’ progress at United has been good, but he will need to do even more to get into the starting XI.
