Manchester United had a pretty bad day at the office by their own lofty standards against a Sheffield United side that hasn’t managed to get their points into double figures this season despite their win over Manchester at Old Trafford.
Manchester United have been enjoying a lush patch of form before this as Ole made 5 changes to the regular starting lineup and gave opportunities to people like Tuanzebe, Alex Telles, and Anthony Martial.
An otherwise resurgent Manchester United side failed to trouble Sheffield United for most of the match with only a few changes here and there looked really promising. Many questioned the decision by Ole to make so many changes.
Hargreaves told Premier League Productions: “I can’t really remember Aaron Ramsdale having to make any saves. They just weren’t at it.”
They were slow to catch the tempo of the game and except for a superb header from Harry Maguire the front men didn’t threaten the Sheffield United goal much. With the games coming thick and fast it is only plausible for any major side to keep rotating the squad.
The game against Sheffield United was the perfect opportunity to give some of the players a rest so that they could be fresh for the game against arsenal but the decision backfired as Manchester United failed to get across the lines which may have dented their title hopes. Their city rivals have now climbed above them with a game still in hand so what’s left to see is whether Manchester United will be able to shake themselves after the loss and get right back at it again.
