Harry Maguire admits that it was tough to return back from injury

Harry Maguire got back to his normal playing activity for England after being out for about six weeks due to his injury against Aston Villa back in May.

The center-back missed United’s Europa League final against Villarreal and we can surely say that United missed him dearly as the early Moreno goal clearly indicated a lack of defensive quality.

This was before Maguire was missing for England’s initial two rounds of the European Championships.

Notwithstanding, Maguire made a huge comeback in England’s win against the Czech Republic last night subsequent to getting back to the starting eleven. Maguire showed great progress and his leadership quality was seen from the first whistle. He didn’t commit any mistakes and that is remarkable after playing through injury.

Maguire has admitted that the recovery was tough but his hunger to play has made it possible.

Maguire while having a chat with BBC Radio 5Live, said: ” I’ve been out of action for six and a half weeks now and it’s been tough. It’s been tough to watch, I don’t like watching football matches so to be back on the pitch is something I love doing, and to be at Wembley for the first time for me to play in a European Championships, it’s a good feeling and it’s all the hard work that I’ve put in that I’ve been able to play 90 minutes. We’ve set out to win the group and we’ve done that. Seven points, three games. Can we play better? Of course, we can. Will we improve? We’ll do everything we can.”

It was a pretty tough fight for Maguire but he showed great determination to make a huge comeback. His quality makes him a true leader for both Manchester United and England.

Tyrone Mings has performed well and he’s unfortunate to pass up a great chance to play. However, it’s very clear that Maguire is a top choice for Gareth Southgate.
