Manchester United center-back Harry Maguire has insisted that he wants his teammates to be more arrogant and imposing on the ball following United’s 1-1 draw against Southampton at the St Mary’s Stadium.
Daniel James scored another goal for United and put the visitors in the lead against south coast club Southampton on Saturday in the first half but Jannik Vestergaard’s towering header equalized the game in the second half. Southampton was reduced to 10 men when Kevin Danso was sent off with 15 minutes remaining on the clock but United failed to capitalize on the opportunity to grab a winner.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team suffered another successive draw away from home and United have five points out of a possible 12 after four games in the Premier League. With the international break this week, United will have to pick up on their results following the players return from duties with their respective countries.
But the world’s most expensive defender Harry Maguire has demanded the Red Devils should be more imposing on the ball. The 26-year-old center-back spoke to reporters and expressed his feelings on the game claiming that United should have gotten all three points.
Maguire said, “It’s another game we deserved to win. We created the majority of the chances and we’ve dropped two points. We are playing attacking football but don’t get me wrong, we can still improve a lot – especially on the ball. We gave the ball away far too much, especially towards the end of the first half and in the second half, we need to improve on that and show arrogance on the ball and be confident on the ball. We’re Man United and we want to control games.”
