Dean Henderson is unhappy with his current status at the club as his game time has fallen drastically.
Manchester United second-choice goalkeeper Dean Henderson ‘stormed away’ from the training facility after realizing he wouldn’t have a chance to play against Aston Villa.
Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick’s decision to start David De Gea ahead of Dean Henderson in the FA Cup third-round match against Aston Villa was not well received by the second-choice keeper, who stormed out of the training ground after hearing the news, according to the Webby and O’Neill Man United fan channel.
Manchester United recalled Dean Henderson and granted the Englishman a new five-year deal after a strong showing for Sheffield United in the 2019/20 season, indicating that the Red Devils have great hopes for the 24-year-old.

Despite the fact that Henderson had some opportunities to play last season, David De Gea’s remarkably consistent performances have prevented him from getting any substantial playing time this season. With only four matches under his belt, it’s becoming evident that he won’t be receiving the first-choice role anytime soon.
However, it is understood that interim manager Ralf Rangnick told Dean that he would start the FA Cup third-round match against Aston Villa on Monday.
However, prior to the match, the German manager changed his mind and stated that he would not be able to keep his pledge. As he stormed off the training ground, the English shot-stopper didn’t take the decision lightly.
For the Aston Villa match, the backup goalkeeper was not even on the bench. Rangnick later disclosed to the media that he was unable to select the English goalkeeper due to a fitness issue.
However, Rangnick has now said that the goalkeeper made a couple of good saves in training and has been asking for regular games. While speaking to the club’s official website, he said:
“I told him that I would like him to stay. He is a fantastic goalkeeper, would really like to have him on board. I can fully understand why he wants to play at his age, but we are still in three competitions. I can understand his desire to get regular game time.”
Henderson has reportedly submitted a transfer request, but the interim manager has stated that he would like to keep him at the club until the end of the season because he needs a good backup goalkeeper.
Dean Henderson demonstrated his capacity to deliver game-winning knocks during his time at Sheffield United, and it was evident that he would excel in any other Premier League squad.
De Gea, on the other hand, has been outstanding recently and could even win the player of the season title for us. As a result, no manager would consider benching the Spaniard.
Domestic events such as the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, provide opportunities for second and third-choice goalkeepers, particularly in the early rounds. Henderson, on the other hand, doesn’t have many options for playing time this season with us.
His annoyance is understandable, given that the FIFA World Cup is just around the corner, and Gareth Southgate will be looking for goalkeepers to compete with Jordan Pickford and Aaron Ramsdale in goal. But if Henderson isn’t even given a chance to play in cup games, his situation at Old Trafford becomes quite unstable.
