The defensive midfielder has attracted a lot of fanfare due to his ability to score goals, dribbling skills and maturity at such a young age.

The club is working to tie him to a new contract in the upcoming months. As per Fabrizio Romano, the new owner eyes Mainoo as the new face of their project and they are ready to offer him an improved contract with a higher salary plus add-ons.

They had held initial discussions with the English star’s agent and are now moving one step further in extending his stay at Old Trafford.

Man Utd believe that the academy graduate is a future superstar and his value will skyrocket in the next few years. He has already earned his first senior cap for the English national team.

The British owners want to focus on young players with a motto of building a team for the future. Mainoo is a quality player and it must be a priority to extend his contract to eliminate potential suitors like Real Madrid.

Erik ten Hag will be targeting young centre-backs this summer as his side is struggling with injury-prone senior players. Willy Kambwala is another player who has been playing well and the youngster will be seeking for more game time this season.

INEOS will put their faith in Ten Hag as the Dutch boss has nurtured several talented stars during his time at Ajax. The club’s hierarchy needs to follow the same path or they might suffer from another disastrous situation.

It remains to be seen whether Ratcliffe will be able to lure young stars like Joao Neves and Jean Claire Todibo to Old Trafford this summer.
