According to the Telegraph, MLS club Inter Miami has pulled themselves out of the race to sign former Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo this January.
The Portuguese star has been gaining all the media attention in the past few weeks. Last week, the 37-year-old attacker revealed his decision to leave Old Trafford and put an end to his career as a player at United.
After a bombshell interview with Piers Morgan, where he talked ugly for the club and its owners, the player’s departure was imminent. The fans were shocked to see such a swift reply by the player and the club as they parted ways with mutual consent.
Ronaldo had a wonderful opening match for Portugal as he scored the opener for his side in their 3-2 win over Ghana. The striker became the first player in the history of football to score in five different World Cup campaigns.
Owing to his remarkable form for his country, it was no surprise that clubs will take note of his current situation ahead of the upcoming transfer window. David Beckham’s Inter Miami was also linked with a move for Ronaldo last summer.
However, the United States-based club has ruled itself out of the race. They look focused on the league and have no intention of buying the legendary striker.
There will be no shortage of options for the striker as several clubs will be looking forward to signing the free agent in January. The only issue will be his huge wage demands which have to be tackled wisely.
