Manchester United FC player Alexis Sanchez will see out his loan deal at Italian club Inter Milan for the remainder of the current season. The Serie A club has agreed to extend Sanchez’s current loan deal with the Italian league set to resume from 20th June.
Inter Milan are currently paying £100,000 per week of Sanchez’s £350,000 wages. However, the Chilean attacker has managed to start just two Serie A matches for the club, having missed the majority of the current season due to a peroneus tendon injury.
Sanchez’s current loan deal at Inter Milan was set to expire on 30th June, but with the Italian club’s decision to extend his loan term, both Manchester United FC, as well as the player, would be happy at the outcome. There was a possibility of the Nerazzurri declining to extend Sanchez’s loan due to the player’s disapproving spell in Serie A, where he been unable to maintain full fitness and appear in competitive matches for his side.
However, Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio has confirmed that the club wants to keep Sanchez until the competition of the current league season.
Ausillo stated that the Italian club desired to keep Sanchez beyond his loan deal’s expiry despite his injury-ridden time at the club. Moreover, Ausillo expressed hope that Sanchez could rediscover his previous form from his playing time at Arsenal. He also said that the 31-year old player now had the chance to show his value towards the club, and then only would Inter Milan take a final decision on Sanchez’s future at the Nerazzurri. Till now, the player has managed to score only once in 15 appearances for the Serie A side.
The loan extension of Alexis Sanchez would be good news for Manchester United FC manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. If Sanchez manages to perform well for Inter Milan in the remaining part of the current season, there is the hope of the player resurrecting his stalled career at the Premier League club. Sanchez could not replicate the success he had as a player while playing for Arsenal while at Old Trafford, compelling Solskjaer to loan him out to Inter Milan.
