This could be a shocker but still, quite predictable news as Jesse Lingard has rejected a new contract offered by Manchester United.
The English midfielder is playing in and out of Solskjaer’s starting XI. Although he has scored some really important goals this season. One coming against West Ham and another one being a superb finish against Newcastle United.
After coming back from the loan spell at West Ham, the United midfielder’s decision of sticking with Manchester United for one more season was questioned again. Nevertheless, Jesse Lingard made it clear that he wanted to fight for his place.
As reported by Daily Mail, it seems that the United midfielder is not ready to accept a new contract at the club. The main reason that looks to be the culprit behind this move is the limited game-time at this club.
Jesse Lingard joined the club when he was just seven years old. He trained for ten years and then received his first senior team call-up in 2011. From there, he has gone through big ups and downs and was advised to leave the club to reshape his career.
He moved to West Ham on a loan deal and it worked wonders for him. He had nine goals and four assists under his belt in just 16 appearances. Moving back to his parent club this season is turning out to be a very risky decision for him.
His presence in the England squad is also under threat and he needs to play more regularly to book a berth in the England team travelling to Qatar for the World Cup next year.
Maybe, as things stand, we expect Jesse Lingard to make a move in the January transfer window if the right offer comes through. Barcelona and AC Milan are two big teams that are ready to sign him next year.
