Jesse Lingard turned down a move to West Ham United this summer with the England international wanting to stay put at Old Trafford beyond the transfer window.
Reports from 90Min have suggested that Lingard’s desire to rebuff offers coming from elsewhere all summer convinced his long-term suitors West Ham not to make a last-minute approach for him.
The Hammers had been backed to secure Lingard’s signing after the Manchester United playmaker had excelled during his season-long loan stint with David Moyes and Co. across the 2020-21 campaign.
West Ham were in the running to make a permanent swoop for the United man who now finds himself vying for a regular role on the teamsheet following the arrivals of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo this summer at Old Trafford.
Lingard’s current deal with Ole Gunnar Solskajer’s Manchester United camp expires in less than 12 months which could spell out a move away from the club for the 28-year-old in the very near future.
