Jose Mourinho and Luke Shaw’s relationship had many ups and downs, with some stories that expressed a big tension between them.
Their chapter was never closed, even after Mourinho left Manchester United way back in 2018. Last month was a more tense moment for them as they both were heavily involved in speaking about their matters through media.
Must Read- Luke Shaw hits back at Jose Mourinho after his recent criticism
Luke Shaw had an injury-filled time during Mourinho’s reign at the club. Mourinho himself never missed a chance in criticizing Luke Shaw. He was rarely given a chance to play and altogether it was a devastating two years for the 25-year-old left-back.
Jose Mourinho who is now the new manager of AS Roma has surprisingly said that he thinks that maybe he was a bit harsh with Luke Shaw and his situation at the club.
As reported by The Mirror, Mourinho said: “I always try to find what I can see as the weakness of the player and sometimes I’m successful, other times I’m not. Maybe I was too harsh with him, maybe he was not ready for that. The injury was such an incredible injury but I think at this moment the country looks to him and deservedly as a proper left-back for the national team from my side I can only say congratulations to him because he did it by himself for sure, with the coaches of the club and the national team. I think that he has more to give because his potential is good and now he is defending well and knows how to defend inside which was a weakness for him and when he goes forward the team loses the ball, his recovery back shows how much better intensity going forward, more intensity, more crosses. I think he was good.”
Mourinho has been lavish in his praises and does accept the fact that Luke Shaw has improved a lot as a player for England and Manchester United. Luke Shaw was again involved for England as he scored a quick goal in the Euro finals against Italy. The birthday boy gave a perfect birthday gift to his country.
But even after scoring a goal in the 2nd minute, England failed to create much better chances and went through the injury time with a 1-1 scoreline. They lost on penalties and Shaw would be mourning on the fact that he should have taken the penalty.
A rollercoaster adventure for Luke Shaw and England.
