Jose Mourinho talks about the ‘extraordinary’ bond he shared with Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay while giving his verdict on talkSPORT on Tuesday morning.
The former United manager will soon take charge as the manager of Roma after being sacked by Tottenham. He speaks about his admiration for Scotland and their chances in the Euros.
Mourinho conceded that he loves Scotland and the ‘mindset’ of their people, stating that he hopes that the Scotland team ticks all boxes to be able to qualify for further rounds and he supports them more due to his strong friendship with Steve Clarke.

He said: “They know that I’ve spent amazing time in Scotland with so many friends when I did some of my coaching courses, they know that I love the country and their mentality. I think every one of my friends in Scotland knows that I am with them, a part of that, Steve (Clarke) is a friend. I know the responsibility that a national team manager feels in these moments. McTominay is one of these boys that always stay with me because you know they start with you and then you have this special feeling. So, yes, I would love to see Scotland make history and go through.”

The world-class manager then revealed that he feels a ‘unique bond’ with Scott McTominay as he handed him the first-team opportunity during the end of his first season at United.
McTominay has since proceeded to develop himself as a strong player, obviously, there’s room to get better however the 24-year-old’s enthusiasm and power for United is spectacular and unmatched in the current squad.
McTominay has shown some spectacular performances for the Red Devils in big matches and he’s currently becoming a starter under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. It’s great to see that Mourinho actually holds the players that he developed, close to his heart and we’re certain that McTominay feels a similar way.
McTominay has been regular for the Red Devils, scoring multiple times. The commanding midfielder has additionally won 25 caps for Scotland to date.
