Juan Mata Admits He Made The Right Choice Moving To Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has explained that his decision to join the Red Devils back in January 2014 after leaving Chelsea was the correct one because he has no regrets.

The Spanish playmaker made the move from Stamford Bridge for Old Trafford in back in the winter transfer window nearly six years ago after falling out of favor under Portuguese star Jose Mourinho at the West London club.

The duo was reunited when Mourinho took charge of United back in 2016 but Mata has been unable to add a Premier League title to the FA Cup, EFL Cup, and Europa League trophies he has won in five and a half seasons with Manchester United.

That wait for the Premiership is almost certain to continue this term as the 20 time League champions are far from the title race but Mata has still admitted that making the move to Manchester United was the right one despite what the critics make of his switch.

While speaking to the Daily Mail, the 31-year-old Mata said that joining Manchester United was never a doubt because he wanted to feel what it was to become a player at the club, “Some people tell me I signed for United at the wrong time but being at this club is very special, Since I was a kid, I saw this club winning. When the opportunity to come to United arrived, I had no doubts. I wanted to feel what it was to be a Manchester United player from inside.”

Mata has also stated that he is eager to try and help the club in any way to get the back to where they belong explaining that it is a privilege to play at Manchester United, “It was the moment in which there was a big change in everything and we are still there in that process. It has taken a few years and I’m here those years. It is still a privilege to be here. I wish it was in a time when we were winning Premier Leagues but I want to change what is happening. We are getting closer. There is no way this club is not going to come back to where it should be.”
