Juan Mata has called out for his United teammates about stopping the dangerous trend that is going on in recent matches.
Manchester United has been falling behind in many recent games, the latest ones being against Southampton and West Ham United. United has been one or two goals down till half time and then they have to work hard towards the end to grab all three points. This situation that the team puts itself into can be a very risky one.
United has won five premier league away games this season. But this is not a convincing factor as many games have been won with some last-minute work. Against Southampton, United were two goals behind and then they had to work through their heads to then score three goals and win the match which was quite risky.
Even against West Ham United, they were one goal behind till half time and then had to pull off the key at the last moment to win the match.
Mata expects his team to win convincingly, to dominate matches, and to win by keeping a clean sheet. Even Solksjaer will be pleased if his boys will be able to keep a clean sheet and dominate matches by winning easily. United certainly need a fear factor so that other teams will be aware of the threat they possess.
Mata said: “It shows we have to improve in our first-half and the way we start games. It is also very positive to know that even though we are losing one or two-nil we can come back because we have the players and the quality to score goals, but it is a dangerous trend to always be behind because one day it is going to be not possible to come back, maybe.”
Mata was right with his words here. Manchester United has to score some first-half goals and need to keep the energies high from the first kick of the ball. Letting the opponent score will only pile on more pressure for the red devils. In the long run, this technique will create huge problems. We hope the players will try to be better in the next game.
