With English football back with a bang earlier this September, the monthly awards have also come back into action. Manchester United gives a Player of the Month award every month, with the fans voting for their favourite player of that particular month. For the month of September, Juan Mata has been awarded Manchester United Player of the Month award, according to Manchester United Official Website which should not be a surprise to anyone.
The veteran midfielder now only plays in cup games for the Red Devils and uses his experience. Juan Mata has been very effective lately against smaller sides, using his brilliant vision and wide range of passing. The Spanish international has been linked with a move to Turkey this summer, but Manchester United didn’t sell Mata as they wanted to keep an experienced player in the squad.
This month Mata was awarded the Player of the Month award with a huge margin of 53% of the fan votes, ahead of Rashford and Van de Beek. Juan Mata played against Luton Town and Brighton in the Carabao Cup, in which he scored and assisted in each of the games.
Solskjaer will be hoping that his veteran No.8 would come good in the rest of the cup games as well as United chase for silverware this season.
