Manager Erik ten Hag has provided a promising report on left-back Tyrell Malacia’s injury recovery.
The 24-year-old, who made 39 appearances as an Important player in the previous season, has missed all of 2023–24 due to injury. However, ten Hag’s encouraging remarks mean Malacia could soon return to his best. Dutch Footballer Malacia left Ajax in 2022 to join the Red Devils.
When journalists particularly asked about Malacia during the pre-Luton media meeting at Carrington, the manager provided further information regarding the player’s issues before delivering an update on his prospective comeback date.
He said “He had setbacks during his rehab process Hag said. Malacia had to have a second operation in his recovery.” It takes too long, it’s bad for him. Bad for us.
“But now we’ve turned a point and it’s positive – he will return soon on the pitch. I don’t think it will take long before he returns to the team training.”
Update on Mason Mount:
Mason Mount’s debut season at United has fallen short of expectations.
Mason Mount has just returned to the training field, although his recovery will take longer than expected. The original anticipation that he would return in January has changed, and it now appears that he won’t return until late March. This means missing six more games in addition to the 14 that have already been missed because of calf ailment.
Mount is still committed to a quick recovery, hoping to stay out of trouble and return to the Manchester United team by the end of March
Ten Hag paired Malacia with Mason Mount, another absentee, suggesting that both were “some weeks” away from returning to the team.
