Manchester United coach Kieran McKenna has praised Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for his influence on our young striker Mason Greenwood. He also said that Ole is a great coach for him and he is lucky to learn from the club’s legendary striker.
On the 6th of March, 2019, Mason Greenwood made his first competitive debut for Manchester United under the watchful eyes of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. From then, the striker has never looked back and has formed into a versatile attacker at such a young age.
He was given a substitute appearance against PSG and he impressed Solskjaer with his clever movements. His natural eye for goal, his quality to score from both the feet, the rare quality of scoring goals from tight angles, and outrunning the defenders at ease, it has been Mason Greenwood all the way at Manchester United.

Such has been his impact that he has been also called the next Robin Van Persie. Mason Greenwood scored 17 goals in his first full season and being just 20 years old, he has been looked upon as the future of Manchester United and the English national team.
One man who deserved all the credit for Greenwood’s such prolific rise is our manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. His faith in him, giving him regular minutes to play, and making him a fearless striker has been impressive.
The whole management is behind his development and United coach Kieran McKenna has highlighted the impact of the manager on Mason Greenwood.
While talking to the club’s official website, McKenna said:
“It’s great timing for Mason that he’s been able to work under such a great striker in Ole. There aren’t many better than Ole in the history of the football club for goals in the penalty area, the different types of finishes from inside the penalty area, anticipatory movements in the box.”
“Ole was really strong and passionate about that and it’s something for Mason to work on. As finishers, in terms of the left foot and right foot, Ole sees similarities between him and Mason, and that probably helped with their bond and his willingness to push Mason and give him the opportunity.”
“Likewise, for Mason to know when he’s getting advice off the manager, it’s from someone who has been there in the penalty box and done it. It’s a really beneficial relationship for him. Mason’s lucky with the manager that he’s come under – not just in terms of goalscoring, but how he handles him as a person, as well. He’s been fortunate he broke into the first-team under Ole.”
Greenwood’s rise to stardom has been sensational to watch and he has a very bright future ahead. Solskjaer and his staff are already planning to build the team around this young lad.
