According to the agent of Napoli’s Kim Min-jae, Manchester United has shown previous interest in signing the talented centre-back, amid ongoing rumours linking him to Old Trafford.
The 26-year-old South Korean international has become a highly sought-after player in Europe following his impressive debut season in Italy.
After joining Napoli from Fenerbahce last summer, Kim quickly established himself as a key figure in their defence, helping them secure their first Serie A title since 1990 and reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Numerous top European clubs, including United, have been linked with a potential move for Kim, especially if there are departures in their current centre-back options.
It is believed that Kim has a release clause in his contract that would allow him to leave Napoli for a lower fee if triggered before a specific date.
Despite reports suggesting that the Red Devils are closing in on an agreement with Kim, his agent has dismissed such claims while acknowledging that the club has previously expressed interest in his client.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News, he said:
“It is not true that a deal has been done with Manchester United. Kim is concentrated on seeing out the season, besides which we still don’t know which English clubs will qualify for the Champions League next term.”
“There is no rush for the future. United were interested in him when he was still in China, but we only ever chatted about that. I repeat, there has been no concrete contact. In any case, he has to enrol for military service in June.”
Kim has made 43 appearances for Napoli this season, contributing two goals. He also represented South Korea in three out of their four matches at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Kim’s impressive performances for Napoli have made him a valuable asset, attracting interest from other clubs like United and Paris Saint-Germain, who may consider making a move for him in the upcoming transfer window.
