Kobbie Mainoo extends his stay at Manchester United by signing a new contract

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Kobbie Mainoo was handed a new long-term deal by Manchester United, extending his spell at Old Trafford.

This season, the young player was rewarded with his first-team debut after making his Carabao Cup debut against Charlton Athletic.

Mainoo was given the opportunity to play against Reading in the FA Cup by Erik ten Hag, who was pleased with his performance. Although he has yet to play in the Premier League, it doesn’t seem that far away given that he has already been called up six times to the substitutes’ bench.

Although United has not yet disclosed the details of his contract renewal, the 17-year-old has already made an impression on the Dutch manager.

Mainoo has already made appearances for United’s under-18 and under-21 teams. Since he played for England’s under-18 team, his skill has been recognised on both the club and international levels.

Everyone believed Zidane Iqbal would become Ten Hag’s breakthrough midfielder throughout the preseason. But if we judge by the most recent team selections, it appears that the management thinks Mainoo is superior to Iqbal.

Ten Hag is dealing with a serious midfield dilemma right now. Donny van de Beek, Christian Eriksen, and Scott McTominay are all sidelined with injuries.

Additionally, Casemiro is suspended for two additional games. The only two available central midfielders are Marcel Sabitzer and Fred. On the basis of this, Mainoo might get the chance to make his English top-flight debut soon from the bench.
