Ralf Rangnick, the new manager of Manchester United, will be without his favoured assistant Lars Kornetka, who is still in Russia.
Lokomotiv Moscow’s official Twitter account confirmed the news, dealing United a minor setback in their efforts to turn things around.
Kornetka has been following Rangnick across various clubs since 2007, and the two have collaborated on a number of projects together.
When Rangnick was the manager of Hoffenheim, Kornetka was the video analyst, and the two have been together ever since.

The latter would thereafter manage Schalke, while the former would continue to work as a video analyst, albeit in unfamiliar circumstances. They would eventually separate ways, with Kornetka working as a video analyst and assistant manager for Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, respectively.
Rangnick spent that period with RB Leipzig alone, but he would subsequently bring in his former colleague as a video analyst and assistant manager at various times. The pair would take a break from each other before facing Lokomotiv Moscow, albeit United has since separated them once more.
Rangnick and Kornetka have a long history of successful collaboration, and many expected him to be the guy to succeed the new temporary manager.
However, the latter has taken the former’s old post, and the Red Devils’ coaching staff will now have a lot to learn from the German leader.
Rangnick is believed to be bringing in a small group of his employees, but Kornetka is definitely not one of them, and the hope is that the rest are equally qualified.
