LASK Linz 0-5 Manchester United : 3 Critical Talking Points From United Heavy Win

Manchester United were favourite going into the fixture as they traveled to face the modest Austrian League Champions in the Europa League.

This got LASK Linz host the Red Devils as a place in the last (4) four of the Europa League campaign was at stake. The visitors scored as much as they can as they got 5 goals against the host (LASK Linz) without conceding any goal.
This proves even more interesting as the Red Devils triumphed over their arch-rivals Manchester City in the Manchester Derby. Following the 0-5 win for Solskjaer’s side we take a look at the critical point (talking) from the game.

UNITED SHOULD SIGN IGHALO

Manchester United may have found a gem in a striker as Odion Ighalo completed his move to the club from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua. It would be a march made in heaven if Manchester United retains Odion Ighalo. It will be a massive investment and advantage having signing him for cheap.

The forward Ighalo has been good on the Red shirt especially with the ball at his feet. He’s scored a brace in the previous Europa League match. In the match against LASK Linz he opened the scoring and this inspired United to a 0-5 win for the entire 90 minutes of the first leg.

UNITED ALREADY THROUGH

The result sees Manchester United marching onto the next stage which is the quarter-finals of the Europa League even when the ball has not been kicked in the second leg.

The score line is a big one especially as United aims to rest players inorder to avoid fatigue. This is due to fixture congestion as they’ve played a lot of games in recent weeks.

The first leg 0-5 score line gives them a settled mindset as they come into the match knowing that LASK Linz will do the more like the impossible thus scoring 6 goals against them at Old Trafford to eliminate them in the competition.

UNITED WAS REALLY IMPRESSIVE

The Manchester United was relatively impressive on the pitch as they took on host LASK Linz. This got them score five goals against the Austrian Bundesliga giant despite playing away from.

This is the sort of match result the club and most especially the United fans would love to see as the season continues to unfold. This could be traced to the genuine effort made by United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer based on his positive team selection and the tactical input and motivation he generates in the dressing room among the players.

This have seen new signing flourish as Odion Ighalo opened the floodgate for goals alongside French star Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood in the Manchester United’s attack.
