As revealed by the club’s official website, Manchester United defenders Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof will be sidelined for a month after sustaining yet another injury this week.
Both centre-backs were a part of United’s last game against Brentford. Martinez in particular returned after being out for months but it seems that he has to wait even further to get back to proper fitness.
Lindelof suffered a hamstring injury in the second half of the match against the Bees and the Argentine star took his place. He played the rest of the match unscathed but has now suffered a setback in training.
His calf injury will keep him out for one month and the same is the case with Lindelof. This is a huge blow for the Red Devil’s pursuit of Champions League football next season.
The club’s statement read:
“Manchester United centre-backs Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez will be out of action for at least a month due to muscle injuries.”
They are already eight points behind fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur and with limited options in defence they are at risk of slipping further away.

Spurs are in good form and United need to win the remaining of the games to maintain their momentum in the league. The club’s medical team have a tough task at hand as new names are adding to their already frustratingly long injury list.
Currently, Erik ten Hag has only Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire as the fit centre-back duo. Jonny Evans’ continues to struggle with his fitness and Luke Shaw remains sidelined.
The club needs to make sure that both the defenders are careful with their fitness since losing any of them will put them under immense pressure. In the end, they would need to play other players out of their natural positions if things don’t work out.

Man United are already knocked out of two major competitions. Hence, they are only competing in the FA Cup and the Premier League at this moment.
They need to have a strong starting XI if they want to end this season on a decent note.
