Liverpool hoping to pip arch-rivals Manchester United to sign Ibrahim Sangare

Liverpool are hoping to pip arch-rivals Manchester United to sign Ibrahim Sangare with the Ivory Coast midfielder seen by the Anfield camp as a viable target.

Manchester United’s search for reinforcements to freshen their engine room in the summer window, before they brought in Casemiro from Real Madrid, had taken them to the PSV Eindhoven star Sangare but a move for him failed to materialise.

According to a report from the Italian publication Calciomercato, Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have entered the mix for the 24-year-old Sangare with United set for some tough competition on the transfer front from their rivals.

There is speculation that Eric ten Hag will not be bothered by Liverpool’s interest in moving in for the Ivorian midfielder with United having snapped up Casemiro in the dying embers of the summer window to bolster the Old Trafford roster.

Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong was the new United head coach Ten Hag’s priority target only for the former to hold out on making the move to Manchester with no Champions League football to look forward for the season.
