Liverpool set to hijack Manchester United’s move for Sofyan Amrabat

According to Dutch outlet AD Sportwereld, Liverpool are actively considering a move for Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat with the intention of hijacking Manchester United’s pursuit of the midfielder.

Amrabat has been a target for United for a long time. Erik ten Hag has earmarked the 26-year-old as the preferred player to strengthen the midfield after Fred’s departure.

Amid reports linking Amrabat to West Ham United, and concerns about potentially losing out on the player, Man United began exploring Everton’s Amadou Onana as an alternative option.

Earlier on Wednesday, Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla attempted to dispel those statements. He indicated that Amrabat has turned down offers from Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Juventus, as he aims to join the Red Devils.

Pedulla further mentioned that United will soon accelerate their efforts to secure the Moroccan star by presenting a definite proposal.

However, a surprising turn of events occurred when multiple sources contradicted Pedulla’s statements. These sources revealed Liverpool’s pursuit of signing Amrabat.

It is said that Liverpool are actively working to bring Amrabat to Anfield, aiming to resolve their midfield issues. This comes after they were unable to acquire both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, who opted for Chelsea.

Jurgen Klopp’s team has taken the initial step of reaching out to Fiorentina to inquire about the potential cost of acquiring the Serie A standout.

Although no official bid has been submitted yet, this situation warrants attention as an offer could be forthcoming in the upcoming week.

The Reds are actively exploring options in the market to identify a suitable replacement for Fabinho. It appears that Amrabat has risen to the top of their preferred choices.

Ten Hag would be greatly disappointed if Amrabat ends up joining Liverpool.

As previously mentioned, he has a strong interest in the player and believes that his addition could complete the puzzle for United to contend for the Premier League title and make an instant impact in the upcoming Champions League.

However, there is now a realistic chance that Amrabat might opt for Liverpool, their fierce rivals, instead.
