Liverpool vs Manchester United – Man United Predicted Lineups | EPL 2020-21

In arguably what is the most important game of the season in the Premier League so far, Liverpool play hosts to Manchester United. The Red Devils sit in the top of the league table after the win against Burnley with a wonder strike from Pogba. But Solskjaer men will face their toughest challenge of the season so far, against arch-rivals and defending champions Liverpool.

The Manchester United squad is huge and Solskjaer has a lot of options to choose from because of an almost fully-fit squad. Liverpool on the other hand have a lo to of injury issues but will still try to make it count when it matters the most. Due to the magnitude of the game in the Premier League season, everyone will be eyeing what team Solskjaer chooses to put out.

Let us now have a look at how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might set his Manchester United side up against Liverpool in the Premier League.

THE 4-4-2 (DIAMOND)

The 4-4-2 (Diamond) formation has been Ole’s go-to formation in the Premier League this season, as the United squad has a lot of midfielders. Fred and McTominay have turned out to be a mainstay in the Manchester United side this season, at least in all big games. Both the midfielders have been good almost every time they have stepped out together, and have been a reason for the club’s success this season.

Bruno Fernandes hasn’t slowed down since his move to United a year ago and also won the Premier League Player of the Month for September. The Portuguese will be under watchful Liverpool eyes surely as they will look to contain him. Paul Pogba looks to be back at his best as he has lately done very well for Manchester United, scoring goals and creating chances.

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial will be the front-two in such a system as the onus of scoring goals will be on their shoulders.

THE 4-2-3-1

The 4-2-3-1 is a very balanced system that has been used by Manchester United under the rein of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in his couple of years at the helm. In such a system, Fred and McTominay are used as the double pivot in the midfield as they sit and protect the back four. Eric Bailly has been a breath of fresh air for Manchester United in the last month as with his United have looked more stable.

Edinson Cavani has also had a good start to his Red Devils career, as he has scored some very important goals already since his arrival. Martial also looks comfortable down the left flank but the same can’t be said about Rashford in the right. Luke Shaw will also be an influential figure in the game as he will have to be good going forward and defensively as well.

THE 3-5-2

The 3-5-2 is a formation Solskjaer has used in the recent past against Liverpool as the Reds have a good front line, which is hard to mark. This system is also a good possibility for the Red Devils as it will make sure they are solid defensively. Only time will tell if Manchester United will stay strong in the top of the Premier table or if Liverpool take their place back.
