Manchester United FC haven’t signed one player yet this summer transfer window which has again shown the incompetence of the board. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believed that he would get his priority signings this summer which would help him improve the squad. But the lack of urgency and incompetence of the board has once again let the manager down.
Louis Van Gaal is one of the most respected managers in football but did great damage to his reputation at Manchester United. The Dutch manager joined United in 2014 and was in charge of the Red Devils for two seasons. In his latest interview with FourFourTwo, Van Gaal stated about the problems he faced at Manchester United.
Van Gaal said: “I wanted Robert Lewandowski, but when this proved difficult I tried to get Gonzalo Higuain instead. Thomas Muller was on my wish list, too, and in central midfield I wanted N’Golo Kanté. He also added that “I even tried to sign James Milner, who was already quite old but very multi-functional and possessed leadership skills. For the defence, I wanted Sergio Ramos and Mats Hummels, because ours wasn’t the strongest in building from the back.”
Despite having so many players on his wish-list, it is shocking to know that the manager didn’t get even one player at United. This shows the lack of backing managers after Sir Alex Ferguson get at United.
