According to Luke Shaw, new manager Erik ten Hag is “extremely hands-on” in practice, and the Dutch manager constantly demands higher standards from their players.
With back-to-back victories at the start of their preseason tour, the Red Devils’ full-back has noticed a “huge improvement” from a team that has already embraced the Dutchman’s coaching approach.
Shaw is confident about the future under Ten Hag, who has made it clear he won’t accept anyone not carrying their weight. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick both failed to deliver consistent results during United’s 2021–22 season, which was a nightmare for the club.
Ten Hag got off to the best possible start as his team defeated Melbourne Victory and Liverpool with ease.

But the manager’s style of training has impressed most of the fans. He has been putting in an intense approach while also providing sound tactical knowledge to his players. The English full-back gave an insight into the former Ajax manager’s training standards.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Luke Shaw said:
“I think the manager knows what the team needs and he has his own style and how he wants to manage and all the players have really taken it on board and they’re really enjoying it. He is very hands-on and he takes a lot of the sessions.”
“He’s involved a lot and if he sees people aren’t hitting the standards that he wants in training he’ll make sure they know. I think that’s good because he keeps the standards high. The manager demands more and we have to be better and better.
Shaw also admitted that he was one of many players who failed to live up to expectations last season, which caused United to finish sixth in the Premier League and extend their five-year trophy drought.
The 27-year-old is now excited to begin a brand-new, significantly more fruitful chapter in his Old Trafford career.
