Luke Shaw prepared to return to Man United training

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw admitted that the Red Devils will be taking “a massive step forward” when they return to training on Wednesday, following the two-month break in football.

Although the players will have to follow strict rules and maintain the social distancing protocol, the Manchester United squad are set to resume training at their Carrington base from Wednesday onwards as the coronavirus rules are eased.

Upon arriving at the ground, players must maintain a fair distance from each other and once the training sessions are completed, players are expected to shower and return home without waiting around.

While speaking to the club’s official website, 24-year-old Luke Shaw explained that the players at Manchester United are determined to return for football training with health and safety as the primary priority, “The rules have to be really strict but we’re obviously all going to stick to them just to make sure things run as smoothly and safely as possible, I think we’re all determined to do things properly because we’re all looking forward to getting back on a proper pitch! Running down at the park is okay, but obviously, it isn’t ideal. We have to do our work, keep fit and it’ll be nice to be around different people and see the boys again for a bit longer. It’s a massive step forward to get on the same training pitch as each other.”

Manchester United were 5th on the Premier League table when the season was halted due to the coronavirus crisis in the UK. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men sit just three points behind Chelsea in fourth place and would be hoping to secure Champions League qualification once the season resumes.
