Manchester United FC have got their first victory of the season, as the team defeated Luton Town with a scoreline of 0-3. The Red Devils move towards the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a confident victory against a shrewd opposition. With goals coming from Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood, Solskjaer would be positive for the Premier League clash against Brighton this weekend.
Solskjaer made ten changes to the team that faced Crystal Palace last weekend as he looked to rotate his squad for the Carabao Cup clash. Van de Beek and Dean Henderson were handed the first starts of their United careers and played well. One of the brightest sparks of the game was Jesse Lingard, who constantly provided runs down the channels.
Manchester United got a majority of the possession from the onset and started dominating the game and created several chances too from Van de Beek and Mata. But it was only until the 44th minute that the Red Devils scored with Mata scoring from the spot. Brandon Williams was fouled in the box and Mata opened the scoring for United.
In the second half, it was the same story again as Matic and Fred dictated play but United failed to create a lot of chances. Van de Beek and Lingard were the only positives of the game because of their movement, and Ighalo disappointed again as he looked rusty. With only one goal to put the scores on the level, Luton Town started attacking.
The home team conjured up one good chance but with Dean Henderson’s great save and Bailly clearance on the line, United maintained the lead. With about 10 minutes to go before the final whistle, Solskjaer brought on Greenwood, Rashford and Bruno. The last throw of Solskjaer’s dice worked in his favour as Rashford and Greenwood scored soon.
With the two late goals, United completed their first victory of the season with the win against Luton Town. Next up, the Red Devils face Brighton in the Premier League this weekend as they will be expecting to win. Only time will tell if the Red Devils get their first victory of the Premier League this weekend.
