It seems as if the whole world has turned against Harry Maguire following his brawl in Mykonos while enjoying his vacations. The Greek court found him guilty but the sentences have been nullified after the player appealed for a re-trail in a senior court. Maguire has come out for the first time since the incident and has spoken his heart out with an interview with the BBC.
Last night, Maguire was interviewed by the BBC about his brawl and whatever that followed in Mykonos. Maguire said “These two men approached my little sister, asked her where she was from, she responded and then my fiancee, Fern, saw my little sister’s eyes going into the back of her head. She was fainting and was in and out of consciousness and …”
The centre-back carried on as he said “My initial thought was that we were being kidnapped, We got down on our knees and put our hands in the air and they just started hitting us. They were hitting my legs saying my career is over. Saying: ‘No more football. You won’t play again’.” This statement from Maguire has shocked everyone and has questioned the attitude of the Greek police.
There were also reports that the Greek police department wanted an apology and United fans had also demanded an apology following the brawl. To this, Maguire replied “I don’t feel I owe an apology to anybody. An apology is something when you have done something wrong. I regret putting the fans and club through this but I did nothing wrong.”

Maguire’s appeal for a re-trial has been granted and his case will be heard in the later months in a superior court. As Maguire has constantly has pleaded not guilty, it is highly unlikely for him to be found guilty in a senior court.
