Maguire’s dip in form a concern for Solskjaer

Harry Maguire had a good first season at Manchester United, as he was made the captain of the Red Devils six months into the club. But since then, his dip in form has been hard to watch, let alone explain. It has now been reported by ESPN that Maguire’s form has startled England manager as well as Manchester United manage Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Manchester United signed Harry Maguire from Leicester City last summer, making him the world’s most expensive defender. Initially, he was seen as a good signing for the Red Devils as he added defensive stability to the team, especially before the lockdown. But since then, he has looked poor and the incident at Mykonos during the vacation surely has played a huge role.

The English defender was sent off against Denmark in the first half, with two reckless challenges, which ultimately was a catalyst to England’s loss. He was awful against Crystal Palace, Brighton and Tottenham and was directly involved in the opposition goals with his errors. Being the club captain, he hasn’t shown any leadership at the time Manchester United needed it the most and thus many think he should be removed from captaincy.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping that Maguire’s form comes back to normal as soon as possible as the Red Devils face an uphill task in their next five fixtures.
